About Me
I'm John Lenss.
I help you build the tactics and ecosystem that powers your brand and your digital identity in our modern world. Sometimes this means developing web applications for various personas or audiences. Other times it means developing inbound driver tactics – like display advertising, first or third-party email marketing, or social media assets that meet your audience where they are and drive inbound traffic to your web assets. But all the time, it means that we need to keep one eye on the task at hand, and the other on how the tactic fits into the bigger picture, inserting itself intentfully and harmoniously.
I differentiate myself from others in three ways:
- First, by having a deep and nuanced understanding of how each individual tactic or tool is created and the role it plays within a successful digital ecosystem.
- Second, by having direct hands-on experience with creating each of these individual tactics to help guide teams in the realization of your digital ecosystem.
- Third, by having direct hands-on experience with instantiating and configuring the tools that allow for omnichannel strategies to be executed.
I have a passion to learn about all of the components of these ecosystems, and how they work – down to the smallest details.
I aim to implement data-driven personalization strategies that reach individuals in your universe, rather than targeting channels or segments of your audience. Using this approach ensures that your customers receive the right message, at the right time, and in the right channel.
Today, your customers expect personalized content. They also expect businesses to have a complete and holistic view of their interactions with your brand. When marketing, sales and support services are uncoordinated, your customers feel frustrated and unproductive. To deliver optimized experience and generate positive customer experiences using omnichannel strategies, we also need to seek opportunities for businesses to consolidate, unify and harmonize individual and engagement data across all channels, and then activate that data back to each functional business area in real or near-real time.

Production Management
A production manager is the person who oversees a production process and coordinates all activities to ensure resources, skills and processes are ready, informed and available when needed.
Interactive Production
Interactive producers have a broad role in the management and production of digital projects. They oversee all aspects of the project, including planning, budgeting, creative design, production, deployment, quality assurance, and distribution.
Scrum Master
In the agile scrum framework, the scrum master role runs the agile ceremonies and is a facilitator, coach, teacher/mentor, and servant/leader that guides the development team, removing impediments and helping the team to become self-organizing and empowered to create, innovate, and make decisions as a team.
Digital Marketer
A digital marketer is a person who uses various digital platforms to reach potential customers for the advertisement of the products and services offered by a company. What defines a digital marketer is the ability to plan and execute marketing campaigns.
During my 20 year career, I have individually performed or directly collaborated with each of the various roles of a full digital marketing team on a daily basis.
DevOps & Development Skills
This is an area where I differentiate myself from other managers. With hands-on tactical experience in AWS, Azure and Google Clouds – as well as Salesforce Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Veeva CRM & Veeva Vault PromoMats – I am uniquely positioned to manage teams of various skills to implement data and event-driven omnichannel experiences. I can also roll up my sleeves to remove impediments or assume most roles if/as necessary.
